We have been doing our typical stuff lately, hanging out around the house, playing at the mall, meeting at CFA for play dates and just usual stuff. The kids have been playing better, Crew has been walking and that makes Irina think he is a big boy now. They play well but at the same time, they seem fight more since he is walking and knocking over her puzzles or towers. When they play alone in a room it makes me sad that he isnt needing me as much...then two days later Crew acts like he'll die if I walk away from him. Like I said, typical stuff around here.

Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday we celebrated the ressurection of our Lord with church of course and a family lunch at my moms casa. Kuncle Obed and Aunt Sawa brought the kids baskets filled with lots of fun things to play with. She is growing a garden and is so excited to see a sprout soon! Lunch was amazing as usual and we just had a great time hanging out together.

Happy 30th to Craig!
Last month my husband made it over the hill and turned the big 3-0! I wanted to do something for him but I'm not the party planning type. I love people who have an act for it but its just not me. I took the easy way out and set up a surprise birthday bash at joe t garcias. I just sent out an evite and baked some cakes, easy! I told Craig I was having a girls dinner and that he needed to pick up Crew so we could go out for (more) drinks after wards. He was confused why I just didn't leave him at home and then got upset with me because I made him find parking in the over stuffed parking lot on a Saturday night. He was dumb founded when he saw familiar faces sitting together and it took a friend yelling "SURPRISE" for him to piece it all together. The weather couldn't have been better, we had fun talking about how Craig was mad about the whole thing. We had a great turn out, about 20 people came out to celebrate Craig getting old.

Cotton Bowl 2010 TEXAS A&M vs LSU
Tonight we had a little get together at our house to watch the Aggies play in the Cotton Bowl! We have been so excited with the season the Ags had this year and are proud they made it this far. Our neighbors Christal, Eric and Aiyla came over and so did Craigs good friend John, we all had a great time watching the Ags play!

Family Photos 2010
At one of my MOPS meeting this semester we had a personal business showcase, basically you had a table set up with you "at-home business". I won a free mini-session with an awesome photographer which was great news since I'm super frugal. I actually wanted to get newborn pics of Crew but was too cheap and had my brother do them with his nice camera. Anyway, our family wore some personalized shirt that one of my best friends http://www.anniemancusodesigns.webs.com/ designed and made for us.

Abuelos
These are my grandparents on my father's side, they live in a tiny little town in Michoacan, Mexico called La Luz which in english is "the light"; it's about 24hrs away (driving non-stop). My Abuelito's (grandparents) visit about twice a year and I love seeing them. In my culture grandparents are to be shown nothing but the highest level of respect. In fact, for those of you who speak some spanish; there is a whole set of words that are only spoken to your parents, grandparents and older aunts and uncles. It doesn't translate into english and the only example I can think of is....you would never ask your grandparent "do you want a glass of water", you should say "would you like a glass of water". Like I said, it's the closest example and the words reserved for our elders defenitley won't translate into ingles. Here is a photo of 4 generations: Jose & Lupe Garcia, Jesus Garcia (my dad), Vanessa Garcia Odom and Irina Odom. I love that my grandparents are able to see the many kids (8), grandkids (about 30) and great grandkids (about 16) they have.
Grandparents
This month of May we have several birthdays to celebrate in our family. Today we went to visit with Craig's grandmother Thelma who turned 93 this month! She is fiesty little old lady who drives herself to weekly hair appointments (never misses one) and bakes Irina cookies from scratch for special occasions. Her church threw a party to honor her as one of the Elders of the Methodist Community. There was lots of home made food and good ol' church hyms too. Irina had a blast walking around and talking to everyone.
